How Many Shampoo Brands Are There? Complete List

Does Pantene shampoo cause dandruff?

The global consumption of shampoos is expected to grow at an annual CAGR of 3.6% between 2021 and 2028. According to a report by Fortune Business Insights, the shampoo market globally was worth 30.09 billion USD in 2020. This is expected to grow to 39.58 billion USD by 2028.

Given the sheer size of the market and the growing prominence of the Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) business model, it is tough to estimate and predict the actual number of shampoo brands available today in the United States, as well as globally.

As of 2022, there are a total of 500 brands of shampoo listed on Walmart with top brands like Head & Shoulders owning more than 430 different SKUs while others like Pantene, Dove, Garnier, Suave, and L’Oreal owning more than 200 SKUs each.
