Pampers wipes are a middle-of-the-road option to add to your baby’s hygiene regimen. They are well-made and convenient. They have done away with several toxic chemicals. But some ingredients may still cause mild contact allergies.

The plastics and cellulose in Pampers wipes may leach chemicals. These can cause nausea, vomiting, and headaches. The risks are few and far between. There is no serious toxicity or major harm. But Pampers is not as wholesome and benign as organic, chemical-free options.

What are Pampers baby wipes made of?

These ingredients are common across all Pampers Wipes varieties.

Polyester or Polypropylene

These non-woven base fabrics are the base to construct the wipes.

Regenerated Cellulose

This plant-based fiber creates a super-absorbent, downy surface.

Water

Aqua forms 97% or more of the wipes’ composition. The moisture is crucial for thorough cleaning.

Citric Acid and Sodium Citrate

Helps to balance the babies’ skin pH and protect sensitive skin.

PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil

There could be a few reasons as to why Pampers Sensitive wipes have a foul smell.  The plastic fiber has a chemical odor when freshly opened. The Sensitive wipes don’t have any added fragrances. So this smell might be more pungent.

The wipes also have some distinct ingredients which may cause a stench. One is isoamyl laurate, a skin conditioning ingredient. It has a peachy and waxy scent. This combination may create a malodor that doesn’t appeal to some.

For most people, the smell is neutral, not rancid. Unless you have a sensitive sniffer!
